Spitfire - Discography

The musical group was created in early 1993 in St. Petersburg by three musicians: Konstantin Limonov (guitar, vocals), Denis Kuptsov (drums) and Igor «Parrot» (double bass). The first concert of the group took place in St. Petersburg in February 1993 at the festival of psycho-music. At first, the band performed rockabilly compositions, but already in the summer of 1993, Spitfire mostly performed music closer to noise / garage. The new Spitfire program was based on cover versions of 1960s garage rock.

The turning point for the group was 1994, when bass guitarist Dmitry Petrov replaced Igor (however, Viktor Ivanov soon took his place), and a brass section appeared in the team in the person of Grigory Zontov (saxophone, back vocals), Alexei Pushkarev ( trumpet), and, a little later, Vladislav Alexandrov (trombone, backing vocals). With the renewed Spitfire line-up, they recorded their first demo tape and successfully performed at the «AeroFuzz» festival in the Baltic House in March 1994. By that time, the ska-punk sound of the band had finally formed. Over the next two years, they performed, in addition to Russia, in Germany, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Belarus, Finland — everywhere with constant success. Their song «Simply Can’t Get Up» appeared on the «United Colors of Ska Vol 2» compilation, becoming the band’s first official release.
